Pain from lower back into legs in Plano?
Hey, Y'all!
I want to use this space to address a pretty common, very annoying symptom. Pain that shoots from the low back down into the legs can be super painful! Very commonly, a Plano chiropractic patient will walk in, discuss their symptoms with me, and say "I've been diagnosed with sciatica", which is usually from Dr. WebMD! 😉
Sciatica and Lumbar Radiculopathy are two separate conditions in Plano
Sciatica typically will be the compression or irritation of the sciatic nerve, a bundle of nerves coming from the low back that connect around the pelvis and exit from a hole in your pelvis called the obturator foramen. This means the nerve gets irritated around the middle of our gluts and radiates down the back of our leg to typically the knee, sometimes the calf.
Lumbar Radiculopathy will differ in that if the irritation is coming from the lumbar spine, it can travel even further, to our ankles, feet, and toes. Sometimes it will be a sharp shooting pain, sometimes it will present in pain like numbness and/or tingling. Both conditions are not fun at all! Knowing where the source of pain is can make all the difference in how to approach the condition.
Be sure to ask your local chiropractor about this if you are experiencing any low back pain, glut pain, or radiating pain down the leg to the knee or the feet. If we can help you with this, or if you have any more questions, feel free to reach out!
